Albuquerque, NM (January 21, 2021) – Cottonwood Mall is pleased to announce the addition of a vibrant new mural located on the lower level of the mall near Eddie Bauer and Dillard’s. The over 330 square foot mural was completed this past Tuesday, January 19th by local artist Kyle Street (@voyagercrafts on Instagram).
Cottonwood Mall partnered with Street to add color and art to the inside of the mall as an extension to the Canvas Project. The mural is a bright and lively depiction of the city of Albuquerque landscape and meant to act as an interactive portrait wall for visitors to take photos with.
Street is a local Albuquerque artist, his use of bright and neon colors along with his passion for bringing life to the community through his art was why he was commissioned for this project. Visitors can also find Street’s art on display at one of Cottonwood’s entrances where during the month of November, Street painted two of the center’s planters.
“At Cottonwood Mall we’re always looking for new ways to bring movement, art and culture to our town center for our guests to experience,” Debra Sherman, General Manager at Cottonwood Mall “With such vibrant local talent here in Albuquerque, the Canvas Project is an opportunity to spotlight our area artists, while creating a unique experience that will surely leave our guests feeling inspired.”
Through The Canvas Project, local artists have a space to feature their art within prominent areas of Washington Prime Group town centers across the country. While celebrating and supporting local artists is at the heart of The Canvas Project, it also provides an opportunity for the community to connect and grow together through art, emotion and imagination.
